A multi-core platform for high-performance video applications is proposed that contains multiple RISC clusters. Each cluster, which can contain up to four cores to exploit a task-level parallelism, is allocated for a function block and connected to other clusters through two networks: one for control transfer and the other for data transfer. We are in the process of optimizing a H.264/AVC 720p video decoder mapped on the proposed platform. Even with preliminary results, we found that it is suitable for implementing a multi-standard video codec.
